Episode 2 - The Unfortunate Events!
Day 2
The Cornucopia:
The Forest:
Robert: I guess we need to leave now? *It's still early in the morning but it will take them a few hours to get to the place where he wants to go.*
Hannah: Aww... Can't we stay here? Here is food and everything.
Robert: Alas, no... The rules say we need to go to another place every day! We can't stay in the same location for more than one day!
Ella: Nah... I still want to stay here for a while... You can go!
The Tree House:
Mirrari: *singing* Itsy bitsy spider, runs up the wall...
The Shack:
Rosco: Hey, what is this thing? I can't remember I saw this here last night! Can you talk? *waving his hand in front of the face. But nothing happens...*
The Cave:
Sonya: What a beautiful morning...! *breaths in the fresh air* Hopefully, I won't die today!
The Swamp:
Mitchell: Are you guys going back to the Cornucopia? I guess there will be new stuff for us.
Kezia: Maybe... I'm not sure.
Mitchell: I'm still deciding. You two can go.
Mitchell: No wait! Wait for me! *and then follows them*
Leif: I guess we can!
The Forest:
Ella is still sitting on the bench where Hannah and Robert left her earlier when her twin arrives at the forest.
Jürgen: Just dry food!
Ella: Then I think I need to go now before they take all the good stuff!
To the Lake:
Rosco runs, head down through the leaves of the forest, not stopping until he reaches the lake.
He collapses by the lakeside, mopping his brow.
Rosco: You okay, Racci?
As if in response, the little raccoon unfurls itself from within the cozy depths of Rosco's beard.
She makes a noise that Rosco takes to be encouraging.
Rosco: Good one, little lady. We're going to get some water here, alright?
Rosco tuts at himself. Talking to a raccoon. Anything to get his mind off his death he supposed.
Lady Reaper, oh she would be coming soon, oh yes.
He dives into the cool water. The icy spray feels shocking and fresh on his face, bringing him to his senses.
None of that quitter talks. He is alive. He is here. And he's gotta fight. He dives deep and lets the water cools his resolve.
The Cornucopia:
Loki: Awesome sauce! *He happily grabs the bag and runs for the woods.*
Ella: Hopefully, there is something useful in it! *she took it and then runs for the woods*
Robert and Hannah arrive at the swamp late afternoon.
Robert: Aww, nobody's here... I guess we should be safe here for the night!
Robert: Yeah, it's sad and cruel what the capitol is putting us through. Eventually, we will also need to kill someone one day when we get a weapon. So far we were lucky not to get one and we can just hide from the others.
Hannah: Do we need to kill someone whenever we get a weapon? Can't we just throw it away?
Robert: Nope! You need to kill! That's the rule... Only when you are all alone by yourself in a location you don't have to kill. Who would you kill? Yourself?
Hannah: I guess not... But what if one of us gets a weapon and we are alone in a location, like now? Do we need to kill the other person? Would you do that? Would you kill me?
Robert: Yeah, that is a difficult question... I know I definitely don't want to kill you but we've been forging to do it! But hey, I don't have a weapon so I'm not planning to kill you now or ever if I can prevent it! Or... do you have a weapon? *looking at her suspiciously*
She darts away, as fast as her wings can carry her, her gun left discarded in the fallen leaves.
Mick and Hunter arrive at the cave and see Diane standing at the entrance with a rifle in her hand.
Not long after that Ella arrives at the Cornucopia and looks around for stuff. She can't believe it when she finds a bag. She really thought by now everything would've been gone!
It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! So many lovely packages to choose from. Should she
have this large one, or maybe the little one with the colored bag? No no no.
Mirrari: I think this long one will do the trick.
Mirrari is so terribly pleased to be at the cornucopia again, receiving gifts for her continued
survival. She clutches her chosen parcel and skips quickly away as she hears the others
coming. Darnit. She would have liked to have had them all. Oh well.
In a flash and a sparkle of pink, she is gone.
The Forest:
Maple also arrived earlier and keep her distance from the others while harvesting the apple tree on the other side of the forest where Sonya is. She prefers to be on her own. It's also safer that way.
It's late afternoon when Sonya arrives at the forest and decides to harvest some fruit first before doing anything else. She's starving. She will decide later if she wants to join the other tributes or find a safe place to sleep for the night.
Up in the glorious forest, Mirrari sits cross-legged on a wide branch to unwrap her package. She gasps as she sees a polished wooden handle emerge from the tight pink holster. A… a gun?
Mirrari had always wanted a gun.
She twirls in delight.
Like a desperado, yeah, just like a desperado. Mirrari totes her gun. Chic chic boom.
The Swamp:
Hannah: Yeah, I do feel safer alone just with you. I couldn't sleep last night because of Ella! I kept on thinking of her killing someone... What if she killed us last night?
Hannah: Mmm... No... But just maybe to be safe, we need to choose a different place for each of us from now on. I will go crazy if I have to kill you!
Robert: Yeah, maybe it's a good idea to choose different locations next time. We can always meet somewhere every other day before going to our separate locations!
The Forest:
Mirrari makes a mental note to find out the definition of a desperado, as she crouches in the
treetop and waits for her prey. A crunch of dead leaves tells her someone is coming. Weeee!
With careful aim and vivacious flair, if she does say so herself, Mirrari lowers the gun and
readies herself for the kill.
There! Someone is walking by– Not a care in the world. Oh, this is so exciting. She lines up the
sights, takes aim, and squeezes. A shot rings out through the woods.
When the gun is empty, Mirrari opens her eyes and notices that someone is lying dead on the
ground.
Mirrari: Wait…
She flutters down, her eyes wide.
Mirrari: Jürgen?
There is a dark red stain across Jürgen's once-breathing chest, and… Blood is everywhere,
getting on Mirrari's hand as she touches him. It sticks to her and gets under her perfect nails.
Her hand starts to shake. Her heart tremors. Blood buzzes in her veins.
What… Was that? Someone is coming!
The Cave:
Hunter: Hey Diana! Good to see you are still alive!
Diana: Get away from Mick! I have to shoot him!
Diana: I don't want to shoot you, so I have to shoot Mick!
Hunter: No! You can't do that! We are in an alliance! *grabbing the rifle from her*
And Hunter collapses on the ground!
Diana: Noooo!!!! What have I done?
Diana: Hunter, please don't die!
It's very quiet and it seems as if there was no one here all day.
Ella: It looks like I have a place for myself! Nice...
Ella: And this couch is more comfortable than the one in the forest!
Ella: And what a view?! *breathing in the fresh air*
Loki: Hey... Can I join you? *Loki just arrived at the lake and is glad to see one of the tributes*
Loki: Is it my imagination or do you have your full beard back? *looks at him and touches his beard*
Rosco: Aww... You notice... Yeah, it's all Mirrari's work!
Loki: Mirrari can do that? How? *Confused*
Rosco: Magic! She is a fairy after all!
She notices two men talking next to the west side of the building. They don't seem to be armed and she really hopes they don't see her. She wants to eavesdrop and see what they're up to before she reveals herself to them.
She quietly moves forward until she's between the tall grass. She almost stopped breathing just that she could hear the conversation.
Mitchell notices the girl almost immediately but decides to ignore her for now and listens to what Leif is saying.
Michelle: Sorry, I wasn't. But don't look now, there is a girl in the tall grass behind you. I think it's Gertrude from District 3. She's been there for a while now and eavesdrops on our conversation.
Leif: What? And you only tell me now! Is she armed? *startled by the news*
Leif: Gertie...!
Gertie hears them calling and decides to reveal herself.
Gertie: I'm sorry that I didn't come to you straight away. I wasn't sure if you guys were armed or not!
Mitchell: It's okay. You need to be careful about who you can talk to or not! We are two unarmed, and harmless guys. You can trust us!
Gertie: Thanks... Do you guys have something to eat?
What is a baby doing in the arena, and all alone?
The crying is getting louder the nearer she gets to an opening in the tall grass.
Kezia: Baby... Where are you?
Kezia: What the f...?!!!! *and then her bloodcurdling screams echoed through the Arena*
Mick and Diana heard the screams and come running out of the cave!
Mick: This way! *But there was nothing they could do for Kezia. The game is over for her too...*
After hearing a gunshot Sonya runs to where she heard it coming from. She's just in time to see Mirrari flees the scene and then she saw the lifeless body of Jürgen lying on the forest ground.
She quickly bends down on her knees at his body and tries to feel a pulse. She can just slightly feels a weak pulse but it's enough to give her hope!
She remembers that he got medicine in his bag and after getting it out of his pocket, she rubs it on his wounds.
But after a few minutes, Jürgen opens his eyes and tries to get up...
But after another hour or two Jürgen can stand alone and is as good as new! The medicine from the Capitol just saved his life! The attack on his life has failed!
Tree House
Ella is fast asleep... She's happy that she saw her twin brother today and she has food for another day.
Maple got herself a spot far away from the others and their drama.
Sonya hopes she's safe after the attack on Jürgen. She knows now that she can't trust the fairy ever again! Hopefully, she's far from here and she doesn't have to see her ever again!
Mirrari doesn't know how to feel about her failed attempt on Jürgen's life! She was so sure he was dead! How could she know that he got medicine to heal his wounds? She should've gone for someone else... Maybe that girl who saved his life? What is her name? Sonya? Oh well, maybe she gets another gun tomorrow and she can try again! Now she needs her beauty sleep to generate some energy to survive another day in the arena...
Hunter: What are you talking about? You can't do that!
Diana: What are you doing? *struggles to get the rifle back from him, but then a shot goes off*
Mick: Diana... I think he is gone...
Diana: No!!! Don't say that! Hunter!!!
The Tree House:
It's already dark outside when Ella arrives at the tree house.
The Lake:
Rosco is listening to the sound of the waterfall. He can hear some birds getting ready for bed in the trees behind him...
Rosco: What?! *Rosco got a little startled by Loki's voice* Oh it's you... Yeah sure...
Loki: She is? Genuine?
The Cornucopia:
Gertie approaches the cornucopia with caution. It's almost dark outside and she looks around to see if there are other tributes around. She doesn't want her life ends too soon and will do anything she can to prevent it!
Leif: So what do you think?
Mitchell: About what?
Leif: Where are your thoughts? You didn't listen at all to what I was saying...
Mitchell: It doesn't look like that and if she was she could've killed us a long time ago.
Leif: Aww okay... Should we invite her to join our conversation?
Mitchell: I guess we can...
The Cave:
Kezia is making her way up to the cave's entrance when she heard something in the bushes nearby. It sounds like a baby's crying but she isn't sure.
The Forest:
Sonya: Come on Jürgen! Don't die on me! *She just hopes he didn't lose too much blood.*
Sonya: No... Stay down!
Jürgen: What happened?
Sonya: You got shot!
Jürgen: Who did it?
Sonya: That evil fairy, Mirarri! *she let him lay down on the grass and after an hour she asks him how he feels* How are you feeling? Will you be able to stand up?
Jürgen: I guess I can try.
Sonya: Let me help you...
And then the now well-known music fills the arena and the silhouettes of the tributes that died today appear in the night sky
The Cave:
Diane woke up a few times at night screaming, and then Mick has to get up to comfort her...
The Forest:
Jürgen is just glad that he survived the attack on him. He sleeps like a baby...
The Swamp:
And Hannah is having nightmares too. She dreams that she got a gun and shoots Robert with it!
The Lake:
Rosco and Loki are fast asleep... They hope they can survive another day!
The Cornucopia:
And at the cornucopia, the 3 new friends are sleeping sweet and sound. Tomorrow will be another day! Will they stay together or will they each go their separate ways...?
And with everyone fast asleep, I will end the episode right here!
What will tomorrow behold? Will Diana overcome her guilt? Will Mirrari get a new gun?
And who will be next to die in a natural disaster?!!!
