Episode 5 - It's raining cats and dogs

 Day 5

The Cornucopia:

The tributes woke up soaking wet as it was raining cats and dogs in the arena! How are they going to survive the day?

The Forest:

Diana decided to leave the forest before any of the other tributes sees her.

Maple also decides to make an early break...

Gertie and Robert feel comfortable under the tree while discussing yesterday's shooting incident. They were glad that everyone survived the day.

The Cave:

Jürgen decides to go to the cornucopia early. He hopes that Ella is okay and that they will meet there. Although they didn't see any 'dead tributes' in the sky last night, he did see smoke coming from the shack's direction. Ella told him that she want to stay there for the night.

The Lake:

Leif decided to leave the area before the others see him. He hopes to be first at the cornucopia to get the best stuff.

Rosco, Loki, and Sonya run from the lake. Everything is wet and they hope they can get a dry place soon.

The Shack:

After investigating the shack and seeing it's ruined totally, Ella runs for the cornucopia.

The Swamp:

And poor Mick didn't survive the cold night. He died from hunger and also has frozen to death. If he just had food and maybe a fire...

Raccoon: Sorry, dude... My friend and I did try to keep you warm. But I guess we're not big enough.

The Cornucopia:

Mitchell decided to run for the woods. The other tributes may show up at any moment!

And he wasn't wrong... Jürgen arrives at the cornucopia and finds a bag with dry food.

Not long after he left, Gertie arrives at the cornucopia and also find a bag with dry food.

When Sonya arrives at the cornucopia she finds a plant with berries.

Sonya: Maybe it's edible... *decides to harvest the plant*

Later in the day Robert also arrives at the cornucopia and is surprised to still find a knife in the weapon rack. 

Robert: Mmm... Now that I have a weapon, I maybe can take revenge on Hannah's life!

On the way to the lake:

Ella was on her way to the cornucopia when she meets Jürgen.

Ella: Hi twin! 

Jürgen: I'm glad to see you're okay, I saw smoke at the shack last night?

Ella: Yeah, luckily I wasn't there when it caught fire. I've tried to extinguish it but alas, it burned down to the ground!

Jürgen: I'm just glad you're okay! Stay safe! *gives her a hug*

Ella: You too! 

The Swamp:

Gertie arrives at the swamp and sees a raccoon. 

Gertie: Did you see Mick today, racci? *worried about not seeing Mick on her way here. If she remembers correctly, he mentioned that he would stay here for the night. Hopefully, he took another path to the cornucopia.*

Diana, who arrived earlier, watches her talking to the raccoon and wonders if she can reveal herself to her.

But Gertie already notices her standing behind the tall grass and calls her.

Diana: Are you sure?

Gertie: It's okay, I don't bite. And I'm not armed! *she already saw that Diana isn't armed either this time*

Diana: Yep, I didn't get a weapon this time. Phew! What a relief!

Gertie: I can imagine!

The Lake: 

Maple arrives at the lake and inspects the fireplace and the tent, made out of leaves, but it's soaking wet and she had to start the fire all over again. The constant rain isn't helping too. She needs to shelter the fire from the rain. 

She just wonders what her next step will be when Jürgen arrives at the lake.

Jürgen: Did you find any food here at the lake?

Maple: Yeah, I did, why? *but immediately regrets telling him that as he starts harassing her*

Jürgen: Maybe you have enough food to share with me? *He already ate the dry food at the cornucopia this morning because he hasn't any food to eat yesterday. He also didn't find any food at the lake now.* 

Maple: No, of course not! I just have enough food for myself for the day! *she really gets annoyed with him*

But Jürgen gets upset too with Maple when she refuses to share her food with him and then a fight breaks out!

But Maple got the upper hand and wins!

She also went through Jürgen's pockets before she runs away. She didn't find any food!

Jürgen: I told you I don't have any food, Bitch!

Jürgen was still lying on the ground when Mitchell arrives at the lake.

Mitchell: What was that all about? * he saw the fight between Jürgen and Maple*

Jürgen: Can you believe the bitch wants to take my food from me? *distorts the truth a little. He feels ashamed that Maple was a better fighter than him and got the upper hand over him*

Mitchell: Really? *frowning and looking at him skeptically*

The Forest:

Rosco is glad when he still finds a plant to harvest when he arrives at the forest!

But Loki wasn't so lucky: Dang, hopefully, I will find food tomorrow at the cornucopia if I survive the day and night! Or I need to visit the Lake soon.

He decided to inspect the fireplace where the previous tributes have started it. But it's already dead from the rain and he has to start all over again!

He also decided to make a shelter to protect the fire from the rain.

He just lit it when Rosco arrives.

Rosco: You really are a handy person! *inspecting the shelter above the fireplace*

Loki: What can I say? I'm a handyman!

Not far from them Ella is glad when she finds a grapevine when she arrives at the forest and quickly harvests it!

Leif also arrived at the forest but couldn't find any harvestable plants.

Just then he saw Loki. Loki left the fire to gather more wood for the night.

Leif: Do you have any food to share? *he wonders if he ask nicely maybe Loki would share with him and hopefully he didn't recognize him from last night's shooting incident*

Loki: Alas... I don't have any. *Hearing the rumbling noises that his stomach makes. He had his last meal yesterday already and didn't eat at all today*

Leif: I don't believe you! Give me some food, now! *Leif starts to get annoyed and more aggressive*

But Loki doesn't stand back from Leif's aggression and not long after that, a fight breaks out! After all, he doesn't have food to share if he wants to.

Leif is glad he worked hard in the gym because he gets the upper hand and wins!

He also went through Loki's pockets for food but didn't find anything. Then he turns around and runs away!

Loki: I told you so, Murderer!

The Lake:

Jürgen tries to get the fire going but with all the rain it's impossible. He needs to shelter the fireplace from the rain. And for that, he needs more wood. He wonders what take Mitchell so long.

Mitchell was still busy gathering wood when Robert arrives at the lake.

Robert sees Mitchell is all alone by himself and decides to take the opportunity to take revenge on Hannah's life! He doesn't care who did it! Someone has to pay for it!

Mitchell didn't even hear Robert coming behind him and just feel the cold blade of the knife against his throat.

The Cornucopia:

It's still raining when Sonya returns to the cornucopia later that night. 

The cornucopia should be a nice place to shelter from the rain and she's surprised to have the place for herself. She thought more tributes would be here hiding from the rain.

She lays out the berries in front of her and wonders if it is edible. She did have her last meal yesterday and she can feel the hunger pains gnawing already. Sadly, she couldn't take more food this morning when she left the forest.

She regrets that she didn't learn more about plants and herbs and what is edible and what's not! Now she doesn't know if the berries are poisonous or not.

The Lake:

Jürgen decided to go look for Mitchel after he didn't come back for more than an hour but couldn't find him anywhere near the lake. Then he returns to the fireplace and shelter. He also didn't see Maple or any of the other tributes again.  Maybe they decided to go to another place.

He now feels a little sleepy and decided to go for a nap in the shelter Loki made of leaves yesterday. It will also help against the rain. It's just a pity he couldn't get the fire going.

Jürgen fell asleep and doesn't notice that the water of the lake is rising.

When he finally woke up, he was already in deep water and he starts screaming for help.

Maple heard the screams and come running to the lake.

But she was too late...

Maple is just in time to see how Jürgen's body disappears under the water. The Lake has flooded and claimed a life... The Lake is also off-limit from now on!

The Swamp:

Diana and Gertie had a fire going when the music starts playing in the arena.

Diana: Oh no! *they know what it means*

And then they saw Mitch's profile in the sky...

Gertie: Oh no! Not Mitch! I knew something must have happened with him when he didn't meet me on the way here today.

Diana: I'm so sorry!

The Cornucopia

Sonya notices that the rain has stopped when she starts hearing the music.

She walks out and then saw Mitchell's profile in the sky.

Sonya: Oh no!!! Not him!

The Forest:

Rosco and Loki are warming themselves at the firepit when the music starts.

And Ella was all alone when she saw her twin brother's profile in the sky.

Ella: Nooooo!!!!! Not Jürgen! Tells me it's not true!!! *fall down to the ground and burst into tears*

And with that, I will end the episode just here...

What will tomorrow behold? Will the tributes be able to get enough food to survive now that the lake is also not accessible? And how will Ella come to terms with her twin's death?
